Workplace violence often stems from unaddressed harassment. Every year, some 16 million American workers deal with various types of workplace harassment. This training video provides insights into harassing behaviors, looks at and explains how harassment can be same-gender, cross-gender, superior to subordinate, peer-to-peer, or based on race, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, marital status or handicap. When harassment is pervasive, it can create a hostile environment and a violation of an employee's civil rights.
The training video's goal is to raise the individual's awareness of potentially offensive and harassing behaviors, and to provide strategies to address harassment if it happens. It addresses verbal abuse, threats, sexual harassment and stalking. The video explains when to report problems to supervisors, human resource managers, company security, even the police. Situations that escalate into assault, rape and murder are addressed. Viewers learn it is important to document incidents of harassment to provide the proper authorities with actionable information. They also learn how to de-escalate arguments with fellow employees, helping to prevent violent acts.
When unaddressed, workplace harassment can make life miserable for employees, and can even trigger catastrophic violence. By training employees to recognize and address problematic behavior an atmosphere free from harassment and hostility can be created and maintained. Increase sensitivity to one's own behaviors and encourage reporting of workplace harassment among new and veteran employees with this online training video. Use this training to create a safe and respectful work environment and help reduce civil litigation and criminal behavior on the job.
