Overview

Kevin Lewis ignored the signs of heat exhaustion-cramps, dizziness, and nausea. His coworkers, also shoving asphalt in the oppressive humidity, trusted their buddy's judgment and plowed on in the swelter. Lewis collapsed minutes later, bent double by fatigue. Though his pulse began to wane, Lewis' coworkers knew how to respond and were able to keep his heart pumping until the paramedics arrived.

The training video "Heat Stress: Staying Healthy, Working Safely" prepares workers for similar situations of overexposure and overexertion in high temperature environments. This aligns with OSHA's standards on heat stress, which likewise promote the ultimate safety of workers exposed to such hazards as heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Through a series of incident reenactments, the program describes heat stress symptoms, means of preventing it and real-life incidents of neglected heat stress and their consequences.

Heat exhaustion is entirely preventable and with this training you can assure the safety of your workers in the heat.
